About
Disability Unfiltered is a podcast sharing real conversations from across the disability community. We speak with people with disability, families, support workers, providers and others with lived or professional experience.
We explore the stories, challenges, ideas and people shaping disability support in Australia, while also seeking out inspiring stories of resilience, achievement and positive change.
Our goal is to create honest conversations that inform, connect and give people a stronger voice.
Where this started
Disability Unfiltered was started by Matt and Ayla from Hearts In Action, a disability support provider in Australia. Working alongside participants and their families every day, they kept hearing the same thing: people with disability have plenty to say about the system they live in, and very few places to say it where anyone is listening.
This podcast is the platform they wanted to build. No scripts, no spin, no filtering people's words to suit a provider or a policy. Just people from across the disability community having their say, in their own voice.
How we tell stories
Every guest is the expert on their own life. We do not tidy stories up, talk over people, or frame anyone as a lesson for someone else. Some conversations are confronting, some are funny, some will change how you think about the NDIS. All of them are real.
